Whitsunday Islands, Australia: Backpacker And Youth Hostels

The range of backpacker and youth hostel accommodation is extensive in Queensland, and is especially aimed at the budget conscious traveller. In the Whitsundays, the common destination for backpacker lodgings is on the Airlie Beach mainland, but a couple of the Whitsunday Island resorts do consider themselves a provider of budget friendly accommodation. There are no backpacker or youth hostels located on any of the Whitsunday Islands, but Hook Island and South Molle Island do provide a form of budget accommodation. In particular, Hook Island resort considers itself to be predominantly aimed at the budget traveller, providing accommodation to suit personal taste, budget and level of luxury.

For backpacker and youth hostel accommodation, Airlie Beach mainland is the place to visit. Most establishments are conveniently situated on the Main Street, (which runs along the beach), and provide ideal bases for mainland and Whitsunday Island exploration. Depending on the individual hostel, there may be dormitory style, double or single rooms available, different types of communal facilities, excellent tour booking services and friendly staff available to answer any Whitsunday Island enquiries.
